Isolde, Brünnhilde and Lady Macbeth

New York’s Metropolitan Opera has announced that Lise will sing the role of Isolde in Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” in 2026, in a new production directed by Yuval Sharon, an American director known for his innovative opera productions.

“Tristan und Isolde”, conducted by the Met’s music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, will open on March 9th 2026. 

The Met has also announced that Lise will sing Brünnhilde in a new production of Wagner’s Ring Cycle, also directed by Yuval Sharon and conducted by Nézet-Séguin. Lise will begin with “Die Walküre“ in the second half of the 2027-2028 season, followed by “Siegfried” in 2028-2029 and “Gotterdämmerung” in 2029-2030, with full cycles of The Ring in 2030.

Lise will also sing Lady Macbeth, in Verdi’s “Macbeth”, opening the Met’s 2026-2027 season on September 22nd 2026, with Nézet-Séguin conducting. 

Lise said: “I’m both happy and grateful that I get to work with the fantastic team at The Met, one of my favourite opera houses. I’ve no doubt that singing these roles for the Met’s wonderfully supportive audiences will be a thrilling and unforgettable experience.”
