Fidelio, Florence and Maestro Zubin Mehta
On the 23rd of December 2021, Lise will make her house debut at Opera di Firenze Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in the title role of Beethoven’s Fidelio.
Lise performed this role to great acclaim at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 2020, and the same year recorded the opera with Marek Janowski and the Dresden Philharmonic which is available to listen to here.
Beethoven’s only opera explores the relationship between good and evil, between justice and tyranny, and the transformative power of love.
Maestro Zubin Mehta will be conducting, and Lise is very much looking forward to be working with him again after stepping in to sing Richard Strauss´Four Last Songs with him in May 2019.
This new production by Matthias Hartmann will open on the 23rd of December, with 3 performances until January the 2nd.
