Ariadne In New York, And Around The World
In April Lise will be back at The Met in New York for one of her signature roles: Ariadne in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos.
This is Lise’s New York debut of what was her first big international role, one she has performed at Glyndebourne, Bodø (a performance which won her the Norwegian Critics' Association Music Award), Vienna, and in Aix en Provence.
Lise’s Glyndebourne debut in the role in 2017 drew unforgettable reviews:
"The voice seemingly knows no limits: tender at lower volumes, it can also fill out Strauss’s grander phrases with thrilling power and a beautiful sound of steel-edged gold.”
Financial Times
“Her voice – impeccably rounded in tone with ringing top notes and a startlingly vibrant lower register — triggered full-body shivers.”
The Times
The Met production is by Elijah Moshinsky, with a cast that includes Isabel Leonard singing the Composer, Brenda Rae singing Zerbinetta and Brandon Jovanovich singing Bacchus.
The conductor is Marek Janowski, who Lise has worked with on two recent albums: Beethoven’s Fidelio [click here to listen] and Carl Maria von Webers’ Der Freischutz [click here to listen].
